Part 5: Power in the Word
15. How powerful is God’s Word?
“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:” Hebrews 1:3
(For further study see Hebrews 4:12 and Luke 4:32)
Examples of the Words power:
Creation: “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.” Psalms 33:6-9
“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Hebrews 11:3
Casting out Devils: “And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.” Luke 4:36
Healing: “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.” Matthew 8:8
Cleanse from Sin: “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” John 15:3
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalms 51:10
16. How long will the Word of the LORD last?
“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:8
