Part 4: Translation
13. What is translation?
“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” Hebrews 11:5 (For further study see 2 Kings 2:11-17.)
Note: There are only two people in the Bible who were translated. They were Enoch and Elijah.
14. Is there any Biblical record of one dying and going to heaven immediately?
Moses died– Deuteronomy 34:5
Moses was buried– Deuteronomy 34:6
There was a Battle over Moses’ body– Jude 1:9*
Moses showed up at the transfiguration of Jesus– Matthew 17:1-8**; Mark 9:2-9**; Luke 9:28-36**
Note: Moses’ death was mysterious. Moses went up the mountain of Nebo knowing that he would die there. He went to the top alone. No human eye saw him die and no human was told where he was buried. Yet his death is recorded in the book of Deuteronomy which was supposedly written by Moses. Moses died and was raised from the dead.
15. Who is called the “firstborn from the dead”?
“And he (Jesus Christ) is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence*** .” Colossians 1:18
“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,” Revelation 1:5 (For further study see Acts 26:23)
