Part 4:  The Word

10. Who has Jesus promised to send us?
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”  John 14:26  (For further study see John 14:16-17 and John 15:26)

Note:  Who could ask for a better interpreter than the author of the book itself.

11. What are we expected to do to receive this gift?
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”  Luke 11:13
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth** not; and it shall be given him.”
James 1:5  (For further study see John 14:14 and Matthew 7:7.)

12.  What else do we need when we study God’s word?
“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.”  Hebrews 4:2  (For further study see James 1:6-7)

13. How should we study?
“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”  1 Corinthians 2:13
“Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.”  Proverbs 2:3-5 (For further study see Isaiah 28:9-10 and John 5:39)

14.  Who was “the Word”?
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made….  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-3, 14
