Part 2: The devil’s Tricks
4. Is it important to know the devil’s tricks?
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8
“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” 2 Corinthians 2:11 For further study see Matthew 10:16.
5. Does the devil use disguises?
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Matthew 7:15
“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For further study see 2 Peter 2:1 and Matthew 24:24.
6. Can the devil work miracles?
“Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,” 2 Thessalonians 2:9
“For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.” Revelation 16:14 For further study see Revelation 19:20.
Note:
Miracle- a constructive act of God that seems to defy nature and cannot be explained by known science. God uses people to play a part in miracles. Examples of miracles include: Moses striking the rock and water coming out (Exodus 17:1-7), the parting of the Red Sea (Exodus 14), Jesus calms the storm (Mark 4:35-41), Jesus feeds 5000 people (Matthew 14:13-21), and the resurrection of Dorcas (Acts 8:36-42.)
Magic- a counterfeit miracle performed by the devil and his legion of evil angels. Magic is often trickery. The devil uses witches, wizards, sorcerers and others to play a part in these so called miracles.
7. Does the devil lie?
“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” John 8:44 For further study see 1 John 2:21-22 and Romans 1:25.
Note: The devil doesn’t need big lies to deceive people. In fact, sometimes he doesn’t tell a lie, just omits the truth. Satan uses preachers who only speak of sunshine and rainbows. By doing this they are communication to others that there is no danger when there is a very real war going on. The devil is real, and he is out to get you.
