Part 4: Resisting the devil
11. Why is the whole world deceived?
“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Revelation 12:9
“Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:” Proverbs 1:28-29 For further study see Hosea 4:6 and Isaiah 5:13.
12. If the whole world is deceived, what hope do we have?
“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 For further study see John 16:33.
Note: Praise God for He is stronger then our enemy the devil! Christ has already gained the victory. All we must do is follow Him.
13. How can we resist the devil?
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil….Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” Ephesians 6:11, 14-18 For further study see Psalms 119:11 and Mark 14:38.
Note:
wiles– tricks or temptations
loins girt– a low belt riding on the hips possibly a utility belt like a
gun belt
breastplate– metal armor covering the chest area
feet shod– clothes for feet like shoes

14. What promise does God give those who resist the devil?
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” James 4:7-8 For further study see Luke 10:19-20.
