Part 1: Jesus is Life
1. Jesus is Life
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
“For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;” John 5:26 (For further study see John 1:4 and Acts 3:15.)
2. Jesus is the creator of life
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men….And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-4,14
“For by him*were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:” Colossians 1:16
3. Jesus is the sustainer of life
“And he* is before all things, and by him all things consist…. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; ” Colossians 1:17,19
“When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” Colossians 3:4
“That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.” Deuteronomy 30:20 (For further study see Colossians 3:4.)
4. Jesus is the restorer of life
“And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:40
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” John 11:25
5. What does Jesus have power to do?
“Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” John 10:17-18
