Part 2:  Christ the Remedy
5.  What provision did God make for our salvation?
“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:  That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”  Romans 8:3-4

6.  What did the Son of man give up for a time when He came to earth?
“And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.”  John 3:13

Note:  He gave up all heaven.  He was the King of Kings, the Lord of Glory, the Majesty on High.  There is no one with more fame, more power, and more wealth than the Son of God.  Yet He gave it all up to become a poor man on earth for a people He knew would mock, deride, scourge, and finally crucify Him.  My friend, Christ gave this up for you.

7. Did Jesus have a human or divine nature*?
“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:”  Romans 8:3
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”  1 Timothy 3:16  (For further study see Hebrews 2:16-17, John 3:16 and Luke 1:35)

Note:  “By His humanity, Christ touched humanity; by His divinity He lays hold upon the throne of God.  As the Son of man, He gave us an example of obedience; as the Son of God, He gives us power to obey…. In taking our nature, the Saviour has bound Himself to humanity by a tie that is never to be broken.  Through eternal ages He is linked with us.  “God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son.”  John 3:16.”  (E.G. White, Desire of Ages pg. 45, 46)

8.  Did Jesus ever sin?
“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”  Hebrews 4:15  (For further study see 2 Corinthians 5:21)

Note:  If Jesus had sinned, His sacrifice would have been rejected because of its imperfection.  But Christ did not sin because His laws are but a reflection of His own righteous character.
